Best Day Ever
Cerys Williams
I was buzzing with excitement, the warm open top Barcelona stadium catching my eye as I sat waiting in a taxi. It was a warm summer's night in Barcelona and I walked into the stadium grounds with my dad and his friend. I bought my 4th Barcelona key ring, which was a flag with Ronaldinho on it. I showed the man my freshly printed ticket and walked into the Nou Camp. I was buzzing with excitement as I headed for my seat.
The colours red and blue were filling the stadium as those were the famous Barcelona colours. In between the red and blue fans there were some Osasuna fans. It was so loud in the Nou Camp that it felt like there had been an earthquake. I got my seat in the back row in the first layer of the stadium. It was a perfect seat as I could stand up and cheer for my favourite team.
I went down close to the pitch so I could see Barcelona players train. Ronaldinho, my favourite player came closer to me as he was getting the football. I waved frantically at him and he smiled back. I wasn't sure if he was smiling at me or if he had always been smiling as he normally is. Climbing back up the stairs I was very happy.
My dad was waiting for me with a drink and the first half was underway. I was sitting on the railing behind me and chanting along with the fans. It was about the 37th minute through Barcelona had a penalty. It was Ronaldinho stepping up for the penalty. There was a deathly silence as he stepped back and looked at the goal. He ran three steps and curled the ball right into the top corner. It was a great goal. Just what Barcelona needed.
At half time it was 1-0 to Barcelona. I got some money and went to get a hot dog. Sadly they had run out of hot dogs so I had to make do with a sausage in a crusty roll. It was disgusting but very memorable. The second half started and I was back on my railing chanting and shouting. The second half opened with Samuel Eto'o scoring a header from a corner. It got to about the 80th minute it was 2-1 to Barcelona. My dad said that we should leave as it would be impossible to get a taxi.
We got out of the stadium and lots of people had the same idea as us. It was very hard trying to find a taxi so we decided to walk a bit. My dad's friend practically jumped over a car to get a taxi. We got to the hotel and I went up to bed as it was late. The next day we bought a newspaper and it said Barcelona won 3-1!' We had missed the last goal as it was in the 92nd minute. I was gob-smacked. I may have missed the last goal and eaten a disgusting sausage in a crusty roll, but that was definitely the best day of my life.
