Kissing bugs

The Zoological Society of London are pioneering the use of blood sucking bugs to collect blood samples from animals kept at their London and Whipsnade zoos.

Thick skinned

It takes between 10 and 30 minutes for the bug to suck enough blood for a sample, partly dependent on the thickness of the host's skin.
