Gemma Griffiths is unusual: a white Zimbabwean who hit it big in the country’s dancehall music scene and who sings in the Shona language.
Gemma tells DJ Edu, the Afroboss, about navigating the country's music scene, and pays tribute to Zimbabwe’s superstar Winky D for changing her life by featuring her on the 2019 hit MuGarden. and explains how her music-making always start with chords.
The "Girl from Harare" also talks about two tracks on her self-titled debut album that hold a particularly special place in her heart: The gospel song Ndichatarisa, which she wrote at a time of her life when she needed music to heal her; and Holy, her collaboration with Nigerian artist Peruzzi.
