Who Does the Housework?

How much work do you do to keep your household running smoothly? Figures suggest domestic work still falls mostly to women - leading to resentment and burnout. This week we’re hearing from Indonesia and Croatia about projects helping change that.
In rural Indonesia we visit the island of Rote - and hear how men there are overturning centuries-long attitudes to male and female roles and learning how to feed their children and look after their homes. In Croatia, thirty years after the war in the Balkans, the image of masculinity is still linked to the military. We meet the fathers in Zagreb who are learning about that legacy and how to overcome it by completing the ‘Superdads’ programme which encourages men and boys to take on household chores and caring responsibilities.
