Framing Housman’s Shropshire
Photographer John Hayward's book is a visual journey through Shropshire's timeless landscapes, paired with A.E. Housman's beloved poetry. John has captured the county’s breath taking landscapes, which have scarcely altered since Houseman posed his verse in 1896. And the poem still clearly resonates with the county 130 years on with curious passers-by instantly quoting lines from memory, “People always like to know what I am working on, and when I told them they would immediately start quoting lines from A Shropshire Lad,” John said.
