Banda Fixe Interview 30/09/26

In this Portuguese-language interview, Rui speaks with Zé Francisco Abreu, lead singer of Madeira’s Banda Fixe, as the group celebrates 30 years of music. The conversation looks back at the band’s beginnings in Madeira in 1996, their first performances, the world of Madeira’s traditional arraiais, the humorous side project Cachaços da Junta, and the band’s move from performing covers to recording an album of original songs. Zé also reflects on the group’s connection with Portuguese communities abroad, the current generation of Banda Fixe musicians and what three decades on stage have meant to him personally.
