From Hospital Bed to New Album: James Ellis Ford

James Ellis Ford has helped shape some of the biggest records of the past two decades, producing music for Arctic Monkeys, Gorillaz, Florence and the Machine, Fontaines D.C. and Pet Shop Boys.

The Leek musician, who is also one half of electronic duo Simian Mobile Disco, has spent much of his career behind the scenes working with some of the world's biggest artists.

But his latest album, Lost in Another World, tells a far more personal story.

After being rushed to hospital with leukaemia, Ford began writing and recording music from his hospital bed, eventually creating an entire album while undergoing treatment.

Following recent work on the War Child Help album, he joined Nick Grimshaw and Annie Macmanus on BBC Sounds' Sidetracked to reflect on the project, his recovery and the music that emerged from one of the most challenging periods of his life.
