Germany's Merz 'deeply shocked' by far-right AfD party victory
Chancellor Merz says the state election victory will represent change in 'all of Germany'
The German Chancellor, Freidrich Merz, says that Sunday's state election victory by the far-right AfD represents a change in "all of Germany". The AfD took a clear victory in Saxony-Anhalt but fell three seats short of an overall majority. The party says it is "very, very close" to forming a government, which would make it the first far-right party to run a state in Germany since the Second World War.
