The Environment secretary Angela Eagle says we all need to have supplies on hand to survive a few days without power or water. She's pointing to the looming supersized El Niño which is being forecast and could cause extreme weather events. The National Audit Office is also warning that Defra needs to work "more closely with households, communities and industry to ensure the food supply chain can withstand increasingly likely and severe shocks including extreme weather events, cyber-attacks and disease outbreaks".
