More than 4000 people have been reported missing after the flooding hit near the Nepal-Tibet border on Wednesday 26th August, with the death toll rising to 1000 as of last Tuesday. It continues to rise.
Sharma Hem, the owner of Balti Curries in Falmouth, went to college in Gajuri and said he knew people who had lost their loved ones in the flooding. Mr Hem said he had organised his kitchen into a fundraising centre and he had already been encouraged by people in Cornwall offering their support. Mr Hem said he was "very proud" to live in Cornwall and he plans to do charity lunches alongside asking to pay for an extra curry to help raise funds.

Cornwall Air Ambulance flew 107 missions in July and helped 84 people. According to the service the increase was partly linked to good weather and more people visiting the Southwest, with road traffic collisions, sporting injuries, illnesses, and cardiac emergencies among the incidents attended. Cornwall Air Ambulance chair David Richard said the service was increasingly focused on treating seriously injured patients at the scene, rather than immediately taking them to hospital. He said newer helicopters meant crews could "go further afield" and gave them "far more flexibility".

TRANSLATION:
Camborne Youth Brass Band's musical director was alerted to the incident in Tuckingmill, by police on Saturday evening. A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said entry was forced, with "considerable damage caused to the building's structure and contents – including the band's musical equipment". Three girls and two boys were detained at the scene and inquiries were ongoing, according to the police. Musical director Alan Pope said the amount of damage to equipment and memorabilia was "so upsetting," with "devastation everywhere".
An online fundraiser with a target of £10,000 has been launched to help raise funds for repairs.
