Two wildlife spotting boat trips found themselves involved in helping to rescue six sea swimmers who had got into difficulty. The swimmers were reported to have been struggling at Barras Bay near Trevose Head, Cornwall on Sunday morning. A RNLI lifeboat, coastguard teams and a rescue helicopter arrived at the scene to find four of the swimmers had been recovered by crews of vessels operated by Padstow Sealife Safaris and Wavehunters, with help from lifeguards. The remaining two swimmers had scrambled on to rocks and were winched to safety by a rescue helicopter from Cornwall Airport Newquay. None of the swimmers were injured. Jo Rowles was aboard the Wavehunters boat and said it had been "a massive learning experience for our kids, the sea is a cruel mistress".

Dredging work to help restore access to the upper quays in Truro’s historic port has begun.
The work is funded by the Truro Town Deal programme, and will remove mud and silt from the riverbed, increasing its depth and extending the tidal window for vessels to use the upper quays, project leaders said.
It was be carried out at Town Quay, Garras Wharf and Worth's Quay between August and November during suitable high tide conditions, they added. The improvements follow surveys by Cornwall Council and the Harbour Authority for Truro, which identified areas where silt had accumulated significantly. Alan Stanhope, chair of the Truro Town Deal Board, said that the river and port are central to the city's history, identity and future, and these works will help unlock more opportunities for people to enjoy them and make use of them.
