'PM needs to step up' - Hartlepool WASPI campaigner

Women Against State Pension Inequality believe about 3.6 million women born in the 1950s were not properly informed of the rise in their state pension age, which brought it into line with men.

They have now written to the Prime Minister to request a meeting as during his time as Greater Manchester mayor, Andy Burnham criticised Keir Starmer's then government for declining to compensate the WASPI women and since getting into Downing Street he's said he'd be open to meet the group.

The government reconsidered the case in January after a new document came to light, but has again concluded no compensation should be paid.
