Surprises in the earth on Ampthill Castle site
Tony Fisher met the archologists digging to uncover the past. Ampthill Castle is most famous for being the home Catherine of Aragon while she was divorcing Henry III in 1533. It was demolished in 1649 and the site was marked by a cross in the grounds of Ampthill Park.
