First South Asian mayor 'breaking barriers'
Kashan Pervaiz is the first South Asian mayor that Tewkesbury Borough, in Gloucestershire, has had.
Breaking down barriers is something he’s passionate about, as he wanted to show his 11-year-old daughter that people in positions of power don’t have to look the same.
Last week he ran the London Marathon to crown his year in office, which comes to an end in May.
He spoke to BBC Radio Gloucestershire's Manny Masih.
