Ex-Nissan staff call for rethink on pension 'injustice'
Nissan has been criticised for not increasing part of its pensions in line with inflation.
North Durham MP, Luke Akehurst is supporting a group of former Nissan workers, who have made an official complaint to the company over their pensions.
Former staff expected annual increases on the entirety of their pension, but found out after they retired, there hadn't been any increases on the portion built up before 1997.
There is no legal obligation for money put into such a scheme before 6 April 1997 to be increased in line with inflation and Nissan say their pension plan is administered in full compliance with regulations by the trustees of the scheme.
