War Horse author: 'I did not have faith until I saw the puppets'
War Horse, one of the most successful plays the UK has seen for many years, is finally coming to an end in London.
For this week's Meet the Author the BBC's arts correspondent Rebecca Jones spoke to Michael Morpurgo, who wrote the novel on which the play is based.
"I did not have faith until I saw the puppets," Mr Morpurgo said. "I saw a giraffe...walking across the studio floor and I found myself crying."
"Somehow it was so extraordinarily moving, this connection between us and a sentient beast."
