Ifans: Under Milk Wood ‘a tirade of erotica’

Actor Rhys Ifans plays Captain Cat and the narrator in a new version of Dylan Thomas’ ‘Under Milk Wood’.

Describing his character on the Today programme, he said the combination of roles creates a sense of a character narrating their own demise, like “the life of a drowning man passing before him”.

But speaking to presenter James Naughtie, Mr Ifans stresses the play is by no means dark and is in fact “a joyous alliterative tirade of erotica.”
