IPL teams 'caught with fingers in the till'

A panel appointed by India's Supreme Court has suspended two top Indian Premier League teams for two years over a corruption scandal. Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals were found guilty in an illegal betting and match-fixing probe.

"These two teams have been caught with the fingers in the till and they should be punished," said former Indian test cricketer Farokh Engineer.

"Hopefully they try and take all the bad apples out."

Mr Engineer said there was "certainly no evidence of any match-fixing or corruption going on" while he served as an IPL match referee in 2008.

Correspondents say the developments will come as a blow to IPL, which is the richest of the world's Twenty20 cricket leagues.
