Deep Dive: Sanjeev Bhaskar - From the family laundrette to TV stardom

With a career spanning decades across comedy, drama and film, Sanjeev Bhaskar has played a wide range of roles. You might know him as Dhruv, a complicated dad in The Split Up, or from Goodness Gracious Me, the sketch show that brought British Asian experiences to mainstream comedy. But Sanjeev's story starts with a quiet boy growing up above his family’s laundrette in west London, trying to work out where he fitted in.

Sanjeev joins Amber Haque to talk about growing up between British and South Asian cultures, his family's expectations around his career choices and how he eventually found his way into TV. He reflects on success, the importance of telling your own stories and how humour can help challenge assumptions.
