Around the Globe

A globe-trotting episode of The Verb sees Ian joined by poets and performers from Brazil, Australia and Leeds!

Do you enjoy a good blether?
Our guest Kate Ireland tells Ian about the restorative power of blethering, talking idly in an aimless way, something Ian has zero experience of obviously.
He's joined by two poets from Brazil's vibrant "slam" scene, Mileny and Ryane Leão, who discuss their roles in the creation of that thriving hotbed of performance.
Khadija Ibrahim performs part of her longer poen "How to Build a Spaceship", a reaction to intriguing archive which described plans for a space mission in Leeds before the Second World War.
And the Filipino and Murrawarri rapper Dobby talks about the conversations with his younger self which pepper his current album Marshmallow.
