Classical artists live in the studio

Katie Derham's guests include the composer Segun Akinola, who joins Katie live in the In Tune studio to talk about his new work, On the Shoulder of Aunties and Uncles, inspired by V&A East Museum's The Music is Black exhibition celebrating Black British music and musicians. The new work, specially commissioned by Radio 3 and recorded by the BBC National Orchestra of Wales, will receive its world premiere broadcast here on In Tune.

The Music is Black. As part of the BBC’s collaboration with the V&A East Museum exhibition, Radio 3 is celebrating the music of Black British composers and artists across the week. A specially commissioned new work inspired by the exhibition, "On the Shoulder of Aunties and Uncles", composed by Segun Akinola and recorded by the BBC National Orchestra of Wales, will receive its world premiere broadcast on today's In Tune and will then be showcased throughout the week, alongside other great music from Black British composers and favourite classical tracks performed by Black British artists.
