Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 4 in F minor from the BBC Proms
Linton Stephens introduces highlights from the Proms, including music by Tchaikovsky, and pianist Bertrand Chamayou performs at this year's Montpellier Festival.
Linton Stephens introduces a week of music from some of Europe’s great summer festivals and the BBC Proms.
From the BBC Proms, Kirill Petrenko conducts the Berlin Philharmonic in two great Romantic works: Elgar’s much-loved Enigma Variations and Tchaikovsky’s dramatic Fourth Symphony.
From Montpellier, pianist Bertrand Chamayou performs music by Mendelssohn and Schubert, including a selection from the Songs without Words and the virtuosic Wandererfantasie.
And from the International Baroque Festival in Beaune, Emmanuelle Haïm conducts Le Concert d’Astrée in Pergolesi’s deeply moving Stabat Mater, with soprano Julia Lezhneva.
