Marvin Gaye: Prince of Soul

The BBC Concert Orchestra, conducted by Edwin Outwater, celebrate the musical legacy of soul legend and cultural icon, Marvin Gaye. With his supreme voice and a back catalogue straddling soul, gospel, R&B and funk, Marvin embraced a unique range of musical styles spanning intimacy and protest, the physical and the spiritual. A gifted songwriter, his work would influence countless other artists, including Stevie Wonder and Barry White to Prince and many from the hip-hop genre.

For this performance the BBC Concert Orchestra are joined by guest vocalists Baely, Cherise, Wayne Hernandez, Luke James, and Vula Malinga who perform Marvin's greatest hits alongside the LJ Singers. Featured titles include I Heard It Through The Grapevine, Trouble Man, Ain't Nothing Like The Real Thing, It Takes Two, What's Going On and Sexual Healing in this special tribute to 'the Prince of Soul' from London's Royal Albert Hall.
