Bargain Hunt: 20 Years of The One Show
Danny visits The One Show studio, where Alex Jones and Roman Kemp reveal their love of antiques and collectibles. In Builth Wells, two teams of well-known faces search for bargains.
Happy 20th birthday to The One Show! Since bursting on to our screens back in 2006, more than 4,300 live episodes have been aired and the biggest names in entertainment have appeared on the famous green sofa. In this special episode, primetime meets daytime as Danny Sebastian visits The One Show studio to meet anchors Alex Jones and Roman Kemp. There’s a surprising revelation from the presenting duo, who it turns out are both huge fans of antiques and collectibles! Alex explains how visiting auctions and fairs as a child led to her love of wicker baskets, linen tablecloths, serving dishes and vintage toys, whereas for Roman, it’s all about collecting rare and exclusive football and Pokémon cards.
Then it’s the turn of two teams of current One Show presenters and reporters to swap studio lights for searching the stalls at a huge antiques fair in Builth Wells, Powys. On the red team are Angellica Bell and JB Gill, with their antiques expert Philip Serrell. They are up against the blue team, reporters Kevin Duala and Hannah Stitfall and their expert Kate Bliss. The blues wonder whether they can dial in a deal with a rotary telephone, but Kevin is outvoted when it comes to deciding on their big spend. Over with Angellica and JB, a rusty fairground game gets them sniggering, while Phil gets all nostalgic. And JB clinches a bargain, thanks to a special rendition of a JLS number one hit! But will auctioneer Ian Taylor be singing the teams’ praises when he sells their items in Carmarthen?
