Peace Partners
How a Palestinian and an Israeli, both of whom have lost family members to violence, are together searching for peace.
Aziz Abu Sarah is a Palestinian who grew up under occupation in East Jerusalem. He was first shot at when he was seven years old. In 1991, when he was ten years old, his older brother Tayseer died after being arrested and beaten in IDF custody. Maoz Inon is an Israeli who grew up in a community 200 metres from the Gaza border. His parents and many of his childhood friends were killed in the Hamas attack of 7th October 2023. Despite such trauma, on both sides of the divide, these men have sworn to reject revenge and instead now work together to spread a message of peace.
Peace Partners tells these men’s remarkable and tragic stories, and look at what has brought them together. We will hear about their efforts to build peace and understanding between themselves, and through their communities. We will look at what the cost of this has been and how they deal with the historic hatred and enmity between their communities.
Using BBC and personal archive to add historical context and depth, the two men’s stories will weave together. Moving, uplifting and thought provoking, Peace Partners will provide a fresh perspective on a conflict that often seems intractable and hopeless.
