Made by emerging film director Benedict Hardie Goddard and commissioned as part of BBC Northern Ireland’s eleventh series of Two Minute Masterpiece, Self Tape is a sharp black comedy starring Dave Elliott and Michael Shea.
What begins as a painfully watchable recording of an audition self tape quickly spirals as Daniel repeatedly resets, stumbles and strains to deliver a convincing performance under the pressure of a very demanding director.
As the pressure mounts, Daniel’s need to “get it right” spirals into an intense, darkly funny exploration of fear and vulnerability. Can Daniel dig deep to pull off the performance of a lifetime?
