Highlands and Islands

In the Highlands and islands, the judges must choose between a former fisherman’s cottage in Avoch, a Georgian laird’s manor in Appin and a contemporary blackhouse on the Isle of Skye.

Scoring them on architectural merit, distinctive design and personal style, which home will Anna, Banjo and Danny judge worthy enough to go forward to the grand final?
The first home for the judges to visit is The Crow's Nest, in the village of Avoch in the Black Isle. Homeowner Clare transformed this former fisherman’s cottage, which was also a coffin-maker's premises, into a quirky family home full of character and charm.
Next up is a laird’s manor dating back to the 1750s in Appin. Home to Lauree, Robin and their kids Tristan and Audrey, Handpainted House has been brought back to life by the homeowners who’ve introduced colour inspired by the scenic landscape around them, creating a calm and
relaxing family home.
The third and final contender in the Highlands & Islands is The Black Shed, a contemporary home inspired by traditional blackhouses near Broadford on the Isle of Skye. Since buying the property, homeowners Nick and Joan have added their own touches to modify this minimalist
architect-designed home.
