Prince Forever: Robyn, Yard Act & Tyka Nelson

Huw celebrates the musical evolution and lasting legacy of Prince, on the tenth anniversary of his death.

Huw marks the passing of one of music’s most visionary and transformative artists: Prince. Across the programme, Huw traces the extraordinary evolution of a musician who redefined genre, performance, and artistic independence—celebrating a legacy that continues to resonate across generations.

Author Matt Thorne, whose book Prince offers deep insight into the artist’s world, joins Huw to shine a light on some of Prince’s most underrated tracks. There’s also a special 6 Musicology (of course!!) with Anjali Perin, exploring Prince’s enduring influence on contemporary music and culture, alongside a selection of tracks that map his sonic journey. And Bobby Friction also joins the programme to discuss Prince’s Asian heritage and how it shaped elements of his identity and artistic outlook.

Plus, we hear tributes and reflections from artists including Robyn, Yard Act and Tyka Nelson, each sharing personal memories and the impact Prince had on their work and lives.

Produced by BBC Audio in Cardiff for BBC Radio 6 Music.
