Adam has some words of wisdom.

David and Ruth get a visit from a Natural England rep, who has come to look over the farm to see if they are likely to qualify for a grant for the proposed new hedge. He identifies several features which make it likely that they will get a grant - provided they employ some other measures as well.

Adam makes Brian come out with him onto the farm, but it pours with rain. Adam snipes at Brian about Ruairi as they sit in the car, and Brian explodes in anger. Adam is taken aback, and tries to calm Brian. Very upset, Brian tries to explain his feelings about Ruairi - he took on Adam and Debbie and grew to love them, and he feels just as much commitment to his little son as he does to all his other children.

It makes Adam think, and later in the day, he goes and talks to Jennifer. He thinks she ought to see Siobhan, to make it really clear what her position is. Jennifer needs to tell Siobhan to her face that she won't have Ruairi - so that Siobhan can make other arrangements. Jennifer can't bear the thought, but knows he's talking sense.
