Name the Somerset Dragon

BBC Radio Somerset is celebrating Somerset Day 2026 by naming the Somerset Dragon.

Between Friday 10 and Monday 20 April, we gave you the chance to suggest a name for the iconic emblem on our county’s flag.

A panel of judges are now renewing the names and drawing up a shortlist from the suggestions.

The shortlisted names will be revealed on the BBC Radio Somerset Breakfast Show between Monday 25 and Thursday 28 April.

A public vote will then open for a week from Friday 1 May with the winning name announced on BBC Radio Somerset on Somerset Day, Monday 11 May.
