BBC increases its FM presence in Romania


The BBC has expanded its availability in Romania with the launch of two 24-hour FM relays in Sibiu and Constanta.

BBC 88.4FM in Sibiu and BBC 96.9FM in Constanta will broadcast BBC World Service news bulletins, sporting and current affairs programmes in Romanian and English 24-hours a day, seven days a week.

Ruxandra Obreja, Controller of Business Development, BBC World Service, said: "We already have loyal audiences listening on FM in Bucharest and Timisoara. Now audiences in Sibiu and Constanta can listen to BBC programmes and up-to-date news and analysis in crystal-clear FM quality sound."

Delia Radu, Head of BBC Romanian, said: "We are delighted to be providing some of the BBC's most successful programmes to listeners in Sibiu and Constanta in Romanian and English – a unique addition to the Romanian radio scene."

BBC programmes in Romanian can be heard in both Sibiu and Constanta between 07.00 and 08.00, 14.00 and 15.00, 18.00 and 19.00 and 21.00 and 22.00. BBC Romanian programmes will alternate with BBC programmes in English which will broadcast in the remaining times.

BBC programmes in Romanian and English can also be heard on 88FM in Bucharest and 93.9FM in Timisoara.
