BBC brings Africa Cup Of Nations draw to its listeners

Fans of African football will be tuning into BBC World Service sporting programme Fast Track on Friday 19 October at 16.00 GMT to hear the draw for the Africa Cup Of Nations.

Programme hosts Farayi Mungazi and Matthew Kenyon will be in Accra, Ghana, as the 16 qualifying teams are drawn into four groups for the tournament, which runs from 20 January to 10 February 2008.

Vera Kwakofi, Editorial Coordinator of BBC World Service coverage, said: "We are delighted to be bringing the draw to our millions of listeners and online users across the world. The Africa Cup Of Nations is an unmissable rendezvous for football fans across Africa and BBC coverage next year will be bigger than ever."

Supporting Farayi and Matthew in Ghana, with special reports, will be BBC presenters Russell Fuller and Chris Mitchell.

Russell will be hanging out at the Champs Sports Bar in Accra to bring views and comments from fans in the aftermath of the draw in Sports World on Saturday 20 October at 14.00 GMT.

Meanwhile Chris will be in Accra to find out how the tournament will affect local businesses in the host cities of Accra, Kumasi, Sekondi and Tamale in World Football on Saturday 20 October at 07.30 and 11.30 GMT.

Fast Track on Monday 22 October at 16.00 GMT will look ahead to the start of the tournament. Farayi Mungazi and Matthew Kenyon will bring reports from all four host cities on how they are preparing for Africa's biggest football extravaganza.

In the build-up to the tournament, the BBC's popular football website bbc.co.uk/africanfootball will ensure fans are kept up-to-date with the latest news and profiles of the qualifying teams.

Once the tournament has launched, football fans unable to follow the action on-air can stay across the football competition online with minute-by-minute text coverage and championship fixtures.
