Chart-topper Katherine Jenkins

Classical star at Thetford Forest

Stunning classical singer Katherine Jenkins has been revealed as the second star act for Thetford Forest's concert bill next summer. The Welsh beauty will be joined by the National Symphony Orchestra on Saturday, 12 July, 2008.

The head-turning classical star Katherine Jenkins will be charming the birds from the trees with her striking voice when she appears at Thetford Forest next summer.

The Welsh opera singer will sign off the forest's run of six outdoor concerts with a show on Saturday, 12 July, 2008. Katherine will share the stage with the National Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Anthony Inglis.

The 6,000 tickets for the concert - to be held at the High Lodge visitor centre deep in the woodlands - went on sale on Friday, 23 November.

The classical show is the second concert to be announced by organisers, with veteran rockers Status Quo the first act to be named as playing the venue on Saturday, 7 June.

The former model and BBC Radio 2 choirgirl of the year is renowned for shattering a crystal chandelier at Swansea's Brangwyn Hall while singing Oh Holy Night.

Her album Rejoice has been released this week, and is expected to hit the top spot in the classical album chart. She is the only singer in history to have filled the number one, two, three and four spots at once in the chart.

The acts for shows on 5 and 6 June as well as 10 and 11 July are yet to be revealed.

Tickets are £28 plus booking fee available on 01842 814612 and online at www.forestry.gov.uk
