Magazines and television programmes talk non-stop about the way our homes should look, but what does the way we decorate say about us? You may choose a minimalist white, spend hours sanding the floor for a stripped pine look or prefer to go ultra-modern with chrome. Whatever the style, it can often give away our personalities, our lifestyle and the fashions of the day. Inner sanctumBBC Voices wants to be transported into your homes, offices, village halls and places where you spend your leisure time – anywhere that shows life indoors. The project is part of our People’s Archive series, recording our day-to-day activities for future generations. Inside Norfolk aims to find out the way we live by photographing and describing the interior of the rooms we spend our time in. We'd like to know about one room, whether at home, at work, or somewhere in your town or village. Simply take a photograph of the space and describe it to us in no more than 100 words. Your description could include anything from the colour of the wallpaper to the objects inside the room, and why you chose to design it that way. You could photograph a favourite piece of furniture – or even a piece of technology that reveals something about ourselves and life today. Loving where you live | | Ros has taken part in Inside Norfolk |
Ros, from Norwich, admits that she loves her sitting room. "My sitting room is terracotta with creamy yellow walls, which reminds me of the colour of sunshine," she said. "I've got picture rails that are also terracotta, as well as my sofa. I've got pine stripped floorboards, and a beautiful neutral rug. "I've also got an original open fire, which is a great feature in winter and front windows that lead onto my garden. I love it very much," she added.
