Carmody writes competition winner

Carmody are the clear winners in the Norfolk heat of the BBC Children In Need Be The Band competition.

Beating off competition from dozens of rivals, Norfolk band Carmody have made it through to the regional final of BBC East's Be the Band Competition.

For the last few weeks, bands across the Eastern Counties have been vying for the chance to play live on the night of Children in Need on the Friday 19 November.

At the end of two weeks of voting, Carmody secured an impressive 44% of the telephone votes for the five Norfolk bands in the competition, comfortably taking them into the regional final.

The four-piece band will now face the five other regional finalists in front of a celebrity judging panel on BBC Look East.

The winner will play on BBC1 during the live Children in Need event at The Forum in Norwich.

Who are Carmody?

Carmody formed in 2003 after attending a David Gray concert in New York in 2002.

The four-piece of singer Ian Carmody, bassist Adam Chase, drummer Sam Wigg and guitarist Scott Lindsay write and perform all their own songs, which they describe as pop rock.

Carmody's Be The Band song is titled Find Yourself Tomorrow and it's about believing in yourself and remaining hopeful.

Although the song was written before the band spotted the competition, it was missing a chorus until they were inspired by the Children In Need appeal.
