Do you ever cycle to school? Or go on bike rides with friends?

It's Bike Week, the UK's biggest celebration of cycling, so we want to know how often you use your pedal power!

According to a survey last year by the charity Walk Wheel Cycle Trust, 444 million trips are cycled by children every year in the UK.

How often do you cycle? What would make you cycle more?

In the same survey, it says that 51% of children want to cycle more. Participants said they wanted things like quieter routes and traffic-free paths.

In countries like the Netherlands cycling is very popular with young people, because of things like separate bike lanes and separate traffic lights.

Bike Week is held throughout the UK every year as a way of recognising and celebrating the many benefits of cycling.

This year, Bike Week will run from the 8-14 of June.

The week is run by an organisation called Cycling UK, which is dedicated to supporting cyclists and promoting the use of bikes.

How to stay safe on your bike

There are lots of ways to keep yourself safe when cycling.

Firstly by what you wear. A properly fitted helmet to protect your head is very important, as is wearing bright colours and reflective gear to make sure other people can see you.

Another tip is making sure your actions are safe too.

Bike safety expert Emily Cherry says it's important to know what's going on around you, making sure you "look ahead, look around behind you" when on the roads.

Communicating is also really important, and Emily says you should use arm signals to tell traffic what you are doing.

Lastly, you also need to make sure your bike is safe too! That means making sure the tyres are pumped up, having a bell to let other people know you're coming and having lights.

Do you like to cycle? How often do you get out on your bike? And, where do you like to go?
