One of Hugo's owners said he's "a big softie, like an oversized dog"

Are you ready for some serious mane character energy? Well, enter Hugo.

He's the world's tallest horse AND he's still growing!

Hugo, who is four and lives in Northamptonshire in England, is already 199cm tall. That's about 6.5ft, or 19.2 hands, to the withers or ridge at the base of the neck.

A hand is a traditional unit of length equal to 10.16 cm used to measure the height of horses.

Guinness World Records said Hugo was officially measured by a vet.

And he was measured without shoes to make sure they got his record-breaking height exactly right.

Hugo is a Shire horse, they are known for their height and their large stature means they are able to pull heavy weight.

They have been historically used as working horses on farms and for transport.

Brett said when Hugo goes out and about people stop to admire him

Hugo's owner Brett Masters said that when he got Hugo, at the age of 18 months, he had no idea he was "very tall, abnormally tall".

"He's still got three years of growing left, he won't stop until he's about eight and a half, he's only a baby," he said.

And he's VERY well cared for.

"He has a chiropractor, has regular massages, the dentist visits every six months, and the vet checks him all the time.

"He has lots of supplements and a careful feed regime.

"He lives a five-star lifestyle, he wants for nothing."

Hugo is much taller than his half-brother

Brett added: "Every time he goes out, people stop, they film him, shout at you that 'he's massive'.

"He's the kindest, most gentle kind of horse."

He said he did not receive any form of payment for his official record but joked: "If any carrot farmer wants to give him some carrots, he'd kindly have them.

"He's very happy, and he just loves a good fuss," Brett said.
