Diamond Jubilee: Queen visits Tees Barrage
Thousands of school children from around Teesside were in the crowd as The Queen visited Stockton as part of her Diamond Jubilee tour.
The Queen was given a tour of the facilities at a white water park where she spoke to young water sports fans and watched demonstrations.
The Queen officially opened the new £4.5m International White Water Centre in front of around 5,000 guests.
The Queen pressed the button which sent water rocketing around the course to the sound of fireworks.
The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh watched from the stage as an orchestra entertained the crowds. She was also presented with a painting by Teesside artist Mackenzie Thorpe.
Canoeists carrying flares flashed past the crowds. There were also speed-boats, rafts and demonstrations from rescue groups.
The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh left for an official reception before their time on Teesside in the sunshine came to an end.
