Mr Walker said this year's daffodil bulbs had flowered much earlier than expected
A daffodil grower from Lincolnshire has won his 18th consecutive gold medal at the Royal Horticultural Society's Chelsea Flower Show.
Johnny Walker, from Holbeach based Walker's Bulbs, was awarded his latest medal for his display in the Floral Marquee category.
He has now won a total of 24 gold medals at the Chelsea show.
Mr Walker said he never took the award for granted and put his success down to attention to detail.
Sleepless nights
"It never gets any easier - every spring presents its own problems and this year the warm weather at the start of May led to the bulbs flowering much earlier than expected.
"There have been a lot of sleepless nights," he said.
"The secret of growing good plants is attention to detail and concentrating on what you know - check and double-check and worry about them 24 hours a day."
Other Lincolnshire winners included designer Adam Frost from Stamford, who was awarded a gold medal for his design that blended concrete with the natural environment, and Victorian Violas from Lincoln, who were awarded a Silver-Gilt Flora.
