Deadline extended over Charnwood housing consultation

A public consultation over new housing developments in Leicestershire has been extended to give people more time to express their views.

Charnwood Borough Council wants the views of residents on a number of options which will help determine where new homes will be built in the borough.

The authority was tasked with building 17,380 new homes between 2006 and 2028.

The council has already given permission to, or completed, 7,671 of that total.

The <link> <caption>consultation</caption> <url href="http://consult.charnwood.gov.uk/portal/planning/corestrategy/cssupplementary" platform="highweb"/> </link> was due to end on 29 June, but because of a large number of responses, the council has decided to extend the deadline until 8 July.

Officials have previously recommended a further 6,250 homes to be provided leaving 3,459 properties to plan for.
