Four people were evacuated from flats above a dry cleaning shop that was on fire.

Jersey Fire Service said it was called to the incident in Beresford Street, St Helier, at about 20:30 BST on Monday.

It said firefighters were able to bring the fire, which caused "extensive smoke", under control with four people in the flats above the premises removed to safety.

"An investigation into the cause of the fire is under way," a spokesperson for the fire service added.
