GP sentenced for making false prescriptions
BBCA GP who admitted to making false prescriptions has been sentenced to 210 hours of community service.
Dr Henryk Jerzy Juchniewicz, 60, from Jersey, had been employed at Cleveland Clinic, St Helier, for 21 years.
He admitted three charges of making false prescriptions at an initial appearance at the island's magistrates' court in February. The court was told he had made 36 forged prescriptions using the names of three people between 2020 and 2025.
The prosecution said Juchniewicz had accessed the medical records of the three people, put prescriptions into the system, printed them, then cancelled the courses of medication to remove the evidence.
The court was told that the medication prescribed had been for himself, family members and a contact - prescriptions included the class C drug Diazepam and the weight loss drug Ozempic.
Cleveland Clinic said: "As soon as we became aware of this incident the practice took immediate steps to investigate the issue.
"Dr Juchniewicz has not been working in the practice since."
The judge said Juchniewicz had written letters of apology to the court and to the three people affected.
His defence lawyer said it was "practically certain he will never commit again" and that he was a person of "impeccable character".
The judge said every effort needed to be made to rectify the medical records of the three people involved and if the defendant could assist in doing that, it was advised.
The judge also told Juchniewicz to contribute £1,000 to the crown.
