How We Built Manchester

Manchester - an inspiring modern cityscape or a clash of the old and the new? As part of How We Built Britain series, BBC Radio Manchester is taking a fresh look at the city’s architecture with a ‘high’ level debate. Find out more:

Urbis, No.1 Piccadilly, Imperial War Museum North and the Beetham Tower – the new kids on the block and all modern symbols of the city’s prosperity.

But what do these glass and steel buildings say about us? How do they sit alongside the gothic presence of the Town Hall, the opulence of the Palace or the quirkiness of the Toast Rack? And what architectural vision should we have for 21st Century Manchester?

To analyse these contrasting styles and consider buildings of the past, present and future, BBC Radio Manchester is holding a top level discussion in the Cloud 23 bar of the Beetham Tower

Listen live to ‘How We Built Manchester’, presented by Jimmy Wagg on Wednesday June 20th, 7pm - 10pm featuring some leading names in the field.
