 | | Daredevil Done For? Bear with us today, as Uncle High Noon is ruing the effect of cheap German lager on the brain's ability to form a coherent... Um, nevermind. On to another master of the English language, Meester Benjamin Affleck.
The bequiffed star, who is promoting sci-fi thriller Paycheck at present, is in need of a big hit, but isn't all that keen to star in a sequel to his most recent box office success, Daredevil.
"I don't know about Daredevil 2," he said. "That may be too much work for me. It was a very difficult movie to make."
He also delivered a backhanded slam in the face to director Mark Steven Johnson, claiming that he'd like Dogma director (and comic book obsessive) Kevin Smith to take over the franchise. "I think that Kevin is the guy who should be behind it. He'd really do the best job," he said, in a quote which adds little to this story. | | | | Brett Ratner's Canon Rush Hour director Brett Ratner will next helm heist caper Josiah's Canon.
Warren Beatty, Michael Douglas and Dustin Hoffman have all previously considered the starring role, of a Holocaust survivor whose top team of thieves attempt to boost gold from a Swiss bank - gold deposited there by Jews before World War II. There is no star attached yet, though. Shooting will start in the summer. | | | | Honour For Edwards Veteran director Blake Edwards will receive an honorary Oscar at next year's Academy Awards.
The man behind the Pink Panther series and, er, 10, has been a Hollywood fixture for more than 50 years and Academy President Frank Pierson paid tribute to him in a quote far too boring to be included here. High Noon's Trivia For The Day: Edwards is married to Julie Andrews. | | | | Sex Sex Sex Valerie Breiman, the writer-director behind charming Jon Favreau romantic comedy Love And Sex, is adapting novel The Food Of Love, a cooking-related twist on Cyrano De Bergerac... Gothika director Mathieu Kassovitz will next helm sci-fi thriller Babylon Babies, loosely based on the Maurice Dantec novel... The In-Laws 'star' Ryan Reynolds is set to topline Sex Talk, replacing Seann William Scott, who replaced Ben Affleck, on the comedy about a sports commentator who gives sex advice. And, ladies and gents, is all she wrote. Have a good weekend. | |
