Channel 4

Channel 4 is the UK's only publicly-owned, commercially-funded television channel, and has a special remit to innovate and encourage new creative talent.

Channel 4 was set up in 1982 to provide an alternative to the UK's other mainstream channels and stimulate the growth of the new independent production sector. In recent years it has extended its portfolio of services to include digital channels E4, Film Four and, from October 2005, More 4.

It has also taken its role to challenge preconceptions, highlight alternative viewpoints, and promote new talent onto the Internet, at www.channel4.com.
