MusicYou are in: Cornwall > Entertainment > Music > Noah and the Whale ![]() Noah and the WhaleMatt Nicholas This October Noah and The Whale are sure to put on a spellbinding performance for the Cornish crowds as band members Charlie Fink and co return to Cornwall for the second time this year. Matt Nicholas looks ahead to the event. Noah and the Whale appeared at the Port Eliot festival in June and now bring their folk infused pop and unique creativeness to Falmouth in order to promote their second album; 'The First Days of Spring' which was released at the end of August 2009. Formed in 2006, many people will recognise Noah and the Whale from their single 'Five Years Time' from high-charting debut album 'Peaceful, the World Lays Me Down'. The single reached number seven in the charts and received major radio support. ![]() Noah and the Whale With part-time members such as Laura Marling and Emmy The Great, the band are no strangers to the folk-pop scene (also described as nu-folk and anti-folk, alongside a multitude of other descriptions). Proving that he is not just a musical maestro in Noah and The Whale, front man Charlie Fink also produced Laura Marling's Mercury-nominated debut album 'Alas I Cannot Swim'. Not content with just releasing an album, the band have also created a film of the same name, Charlie makes his debut as a director on 'The First Days of Spring' and says the film can be seen as a companion piece to the album, as a visual version of it, or as a piece of work in its own right. The first single from the new album is 'Blue Skies', played exclusively on BBC Radio 1's Zane Lowe show in late June and has rapidly gathered support from both radio and press alike. Falmouth's Princess Pavilions play host to the band on Monday 12 October 2009 as part of a nationwide UK tour.
