A sunny main stage at Global Gathering

Sophie's Diary 3

It's been a busy week of organisation and preparation for the Leopallooza Festival this week, with a little recovery from a weekend of pure mayhem at Global Gathering in between (non-work related of course!) Sophie Cox has more.

There has been little time to recover from the shock of interviewing Luke Pritchard at the Eden Project this week, as Leopallooza 2009 looms on the horizon.

The locally run festival is something that I have a great interest in and passion for as I have been every year since it began. The up and coming event is about to commence it's fourth year as Cornwall's underground Glastonbury!

In my opinion it is one of the most unique musical events that the West Country has to offer and it's diverse and eco-friendly approach is one to rival other UK festivals.

I have fond memories of rain, mud and exceptional music from last year and decided that it would be an absolute travesty if it wasn't covered by BBC Blast.

I have spent the entire week in negotiation with Cai Wagget, press officer for the event and he has been an absolute gem throughout the process. (Huge thanks!)

Matt and I shall be conducting interviews and taking pictures from the festival this Saturday so check out our gallery and review next week. (I'm so excited!) We are also hoping to get an interview with a couple of the bands that are headlining (fingers crossed!)

The rest of my week has been absolutely dominated with going to and recovering from one of the UK's biggest festivals, Global Gathering. Leaving very disgustingly early Friday morning and trekking all the way to Stratford-Upon-Avon was completely worth it for a phenomenal weekend.

Prodigy were one of my absolute highlights as they graced the main stage with vigour more than worthy of praise. The atmosphere was cosmic as thousands of fans raved about the arena in the early evening sunshine (that's right I did say sunshine!) It's safe to say I didn't feel quite so cosmic on Sunday morning...
