Complaint
The programme included an interview with the historian Avi Schlaim, who argues that Israel’s actions in Gaza amount to genocide. A listener complained that the programme included no speaker of equal weight to put an opposing view. The ECU considered the complaint in the light of the BBC’s standards of impartiality.
Outcome
In the ECU’s judgement the interviewer’s critical questioning and the challenges from listeners who called to express their views were sufficient to ensure that the topic of the interview was treated with due impartiality.
