What is Nowruz?

Nowruz is a special festival that marks Persian New Year and the start of spring. Dating back over 3000 years, Nowruz is celebrated on the run up to spring by lots of people across the Middle East, including Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan and many other countries. Just like many other religious festivals, Nowruz is a time to spend with family and eat traditional food.

What does Nowruz mean?

Nowruz (also spelled Norouz, Novruz, Nowruz, Navruz) translates to "new day" in Persian.
