Can you find all the capybaras?

Think you know what capybaras look like? Put your skills to the test! Find all ten capybaras hidden among their rodent relatives… before time runs out. Good luck!

Five fun facts about capybaras!

1. What are capybaras?

Capybaras are mammals and the world’s largest rodent, often described as giant guinea pigs!

Although giving a resemblance to guinea pigs, capybaras do not make good pets at all, they need a specific environment to give them their best life.

Did you know? Females are usually bigger than males.

2. What do capybaras eat?

Capybaras are mainly herbivores and eat tough, fibrous plants like grass, which can be hard to digest and don’t provide many nutrients. To get more goodness from their food, they eat their own poo as well, this is called coprophagy… ew!

3. What do capybaras do?

Capybaras love to spend time together and are often found in herds of 10 to 20. In the dry season, their groups can grow as large as 30! They also love being in the water and swimming with their family.

4. Where do capybaras live?

Capybaras are originally from South America and are often found in places where water is accessible, such as wetlands, swamps, and open grasslands.

5. Can capybaras swim?

Yes, capybaras are excellent swimmers. They are semi-aquatic and well adapted to life in the water. They have partially webbed feet, and their ears, eyes, and nose are positioned high on their heads, allowing them to stay mostly hidden while still being able to see, hear, and breathe.

They can also swim underwater and hold their breath for up to five minutes, a perfect survival tactic to help them escape predators!
